In 2009, the City of Los Angeles was selected as the Guest of Honor at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, offering Community Arts Resources the opportunity to produce the performing arts portion of this nine-day, dynamic cultural festival. Acting under the direction of the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, CARS coordinated all logistics and artistic matters surrounding 19 cultural events in only 9 days. Guadalajara played host to more than 600,000 visitors throughout the course of this annual book fair, which is the largest of its kind in South America.
