Digital Engagement

For decades Community Arts Resources (CARS) has been committed to facilitating community engagement through public festivals and other events that bring people together to witness our shared humanity. We take pride in over thirty years of creating events and engagement strategies that showcase the creative power of human interaction and facilitate inclusive conversations. Gathering together in public space is the bedrock of our identity as a firm, but of course, the tactics of this approach have changed in response to this unprecedented time.

CARS has a history of embracing new technologies and digital solutions that democratize participation. We were the first to create an accessible digital list of artists and their audiences. We were the first to create a GIS to map all of the arts establishments and performing venues in Los Angeles County. And we were the first west coast company to partner with an innovative Massachusetts-based firm, Co-Urbanize, to create an interactive digital mapping tool for Glendale's public art master plan. And while Zoom-based meetings are now status-quo, in 2006 we collaborated with USC's Annenberg School for Communications to broadcast web-based videos of community meetings to the public, creating a more inclusive dialogue in the establishment process of Grand Park. In addition, CARS is hired to create social media campaigns and marketing strategies for durational and one time events.

Based on this history, CARS continues to innovate and transform in response to COVID-19. We've created a virtual walk audit for community feedback on a streetscape re-design project for the City of Beverly Hills, hosting a month-long online festival showcasing culinary delights in Little Tokyo to support local businesses, and producing a series of virtual town halls for the Southern California Association of Governments as a part of their Mobility Innovations initiative. CARS has always been committed to experiences that are equitable and engaging in its format. We are well-equipped to translate our services to digital platforms and hope you will consider our out of the box approach to engagement and participation for your needs.
