San Diego Symphony, The Rady Shell, & Jacobs Park

The San Diego Symphony invited Community Arts Resources to envision how the new five-acre Jacobs Park will operate as a community asset year-round, and how the Symphony and its programming at the new Rady Shell might engage with the diverse communities of San Diego moving forward.

Community Arts Resources (CARS) created a report providing concrete suggestions for how the
Symphony can engage with the wide range of peoples that make up the greater San
Diego/Tijuana region. CARS looked at best practices in open space management, the use of food as a convening tool, new leadership development strategies, and models for community engagement from around the country that are relevant to San Diego. The report includes recommendations for both the programming of the Rady Shell and Jacobs Park as well as recommendations for The Symphony as an organization. Additionally, the report makes recommendations on how to improve the connectivity of Jacobs Park with the existing urban fabric of San Diego.
